Buying gifts for the seniors in our lives can be so frustrating.
So many of the seniors in my life either have or buy what they want, or they don’t want any more than they have.
I remember nearly ten years ago when my mother in law who is almost 89 years old told us that she didn’t want another thing to sit around her house.
She loved the things in her home, but she didn’t want to clean anything or deal with remembering who gave it to her.
My mother, on the other hand, buys what she wants.
I remember one year when I made a list of things to buy her as she talked about things she wanted.
I was so proud that I made that list all year, and it had several items on it, since I usually start my holiday shopping in September or October, so I felt very prepared.
In a three week period, she purchased over half of the items for herself.
I was so ticked!
Starting that year, we put my mom on a buying hiatus after October 1st.
Some years she listens, but some years, not so much.
Our best defense became finding gifts our favorite seniors wouldn’t think to buy or do for themselves.
It’s saved our sanity and lowered our stress levels immensely.
So why am I sharing this so early in the year?
Why buy now for your senior?
Well, I’m writing this in 2020 in the midst of a pandemic and life isn’t what it used to be.
We don’t always get next day shipping.
Supplies are limited, and one item on this list doesn’t start shipping for several weeks.
If you wait until late November or early December to shop, you may not get everything you want, not that that’s the worst thing that could happen, but why not plan ahead?
That’s why I decided to share this with you right now, so you can stay on top of your holiday season.
One of the best things that will help you pick the best gift for your favorite senior is understanding love languages.
This list above is based partly on that knowledge, and it helps to know what makes your favorite people happy.
